Decision to Microwave Fish at Work Takes a Turn

A workplace spat over microwaved fish has ended a South Carolina detective's employment with his department and left him facing a felony charge. Authorities say former Myrtle Beach officer Michael Debiase, 46, pulled his department-issued handgun on a fellow officer Saturday after confronting the colleague about microwaving fish and stinking up the office, reports ABC News.

Per a press release, the Myrtle Beach Police Department asked the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division to investigate, and SLED on Tuesday charged Debiase with pointing and presenting a firearm at a person. He was booked into the Horry County jail and released on a $5,000 bond; a court hearing is set for Aug. 14. Debiase was put on leave immediately, and the Myrtle Beach Police Department said Tuesday it has "recently separated employment" with him, citing "several policy violations."
