An Oklahoma fast-food run has spawned both a criminal case and a civil lawsuit. Former Arby's manager Amanda Hendricks has been charged with felony poisoning after police say surveillance footage shows her spitting into sandwiches ordered by customer Jennica Church at a Broken Bow location in March, Fox News reports. According to an affidavit, investigators reviewed security video and concluded Hendricks leaned over Church's food and spit on it. Church has separately sued Hendricks and Arby's operators, alleging Hendricks had an active herpes outbreak at the time and that Church later tested positive for HSV-1 after developing a lip lesion.
Church says she ate one sandwich in the parking lot and took the rest home to share with her husband and a relative in hospice care. Police say they launched the probe after another employee reported the alleged tampering. Hendricks was arrested Sunday. Church says she has "a little history" with Hendricks but it's nothing major, KJRH reports. She says her daughter heard that Hendricks had been bragging about spitting in her food. "I love Arby's—not anymore," she says.
