After Man's Arm Found in Lake, a Grimmer Discovery

A grim discovery by boaters on an Illinois lake has led to murder and dismemberment charges against a man and his half-brother's wife. Authorities say a tattooed arm spotted in Lake Mattoon on June 28 was identified as the remains of 38-year-old Dalewayne Turner, setting off an investigation that led police to a freezer in the basement of a Plainfield home some three hours away, reports WCIA. It held his head, neck, and torso, reports Fox News.

Illinois State Police say James Adams, 26, admitted to stabbing Turner during a fight, claiming self-defense, while Turner's wife, Robin Turner, 62, allegedly helped cover up the killing instead of calling police. Prosecutors say the pair cleaned the home with bleach, repainted, burned wood paneling, and dumped body parts in the lake in duct-taped trash bags that held weights and concrete, reports ABC7—one of which apparently tore, allowing the arm to surface. Both are charged with concealment of a homicide and dismembering a human body and are due in court Thursday.
