Tornado Kills 11, Hurls Man From 12th Floor in China

A man was reportedly hurled from his 12th-floor apartment as a powerful tornado tore through central China's Hubei province late Monday, killing at least 11 people and injuring more than 330. State media say winds reached roughly 160mph, shredding homes, toppling vehicles, and battering farmland across the industrial region, where more than 4,800 houses were damaged. The man, a 30-year-old from Huanggang whose furniture was also blown out, is in intensive care, according to local reports.

Video showed the twister cutting through nearby Ezhou, where five deaths were reported. Authorities say thousands of rescuers have been deployed as Typhoon Maysak and seasonal rains triggered the tornado and fueled broader flooding and landslides across China, per the BBC. In Guangxi, floods killed four, left eight missing, and unleashed more than 800 snakes from a submerged farm, including cobras.
