In a move to placate one of their members, Republican leaders plan to bring legislation to follow daylight saving time year-round to the House floor for a vote next week. The idea is to consider the "Sunshine Protection Act" next week in an effort to mollify Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, who has been leading something of a revolt in her party, Politico reports. President Trump also supports the switch and has been lobbying lawmakers to make it. The bill was passed out of committee in May, per the Hill.

Luna recently helped derail a key procedural vote in protest of the Trump-backed SAVE America election bill not being passed, cutting short the House's work before the Fourth of July 4, and hasn't said whether a daylight saving time vote would affect her blockade. Lawmakers from farm states aren't enthusiastic, worrying about darker mornings. In the other chamber, GOP Sen. Tom Cotton has said the change would "push winter sunrises to an absurdly late hour." He said children "would either walk to school in the pitch black or schools would have to push back start times."
