Late-Night Hosts Roast Mitch McConnell

Mitch McConnell may be in the hospital, but he's not off limits to late-night hosts. In fact, they've been piling on the Kentucky senator after he released an image of himself from his hospital bed, with wife Elaine Chao, after weeks of silence about his recuperation. (McConnell, 84, says he is recovering from a fall and pneumonia.) A sampling:

• Jon Stewart: The photo provides "totally believable evidence that Mitch McConnell is not only alive, but the happiest boy in the hospital," he said, reports USA Today. "That's the smile of a Make-a-Wish kid whose wish was that everyone else in the hospital lost their health insurance due to his [expletive] policies."
• Jimmy Fallon: "Yeah, nothing says perfect health like having someone hold you up when you're already sitting. Looks like a husband-and-wife ventriloquist act," he said, per the New York Times.

• Ike Barinholtz (filling in for Jimmy Kimmel): "In all seriousness, though, I do want to extend well wishes to Senator McConnell," he said, per AOL.com. "I hope you get the quality health care you've fought so hard to deny everyone else."
• Kimmel: Though he's on summer break, Kimmel posted a parody photo on social media, with his face superimposed over the senator's in the hospital image, per Variety. "For those who've been asking, I'm feeling great," he wrote.
