Police in Maryland say an alleged bank robber showed up with an unlikely sidekick: a stolen kitten. Prince George's County police on Monday arrested a man accused of swiping a 3-month-old tuxedo kitten named Magnolia from a Pet Supplies Plus in Beltsville, then carrying her into a nearby PNC Bank, where he "tried to use her as an accessory in his attempted robbery," according to rescue group Beltsville Community Cats. Pet shop staff say the suspect had visited daily for about two weeks to see the kitten. When he arrived Monday and saw no staff near the front of the store, he allegedly grabbed a key, unlocked Magnolia's enclosure, and ran out with her, per NBC Washington.

Witnesses say he ran directly to the PNC Bank, located in the same shopping center, per Fox News. The rescue group said the man asked the bank manager to hold the kitten before writing a demand note that he passed to the teller. The robbery attempt fizzled, with no one hurt and the man, who has not been named, taken into custody. Responding officers later found Magnolia safe in the manager's office. She remains up for adoption, seeking "a law-abiding citizen with a lot of love in their heart," says a rep for the rescue group. The group adds the kitten only steals "treats, toys, and cuddles."
