BBC Report Rounds Up Allegations Against Jared Leto

Oscar winner Jared Leto is facing new, detailed allegations of sexual misconduct with minors spanning more than a decade, laid out in a BBC investigation and short documentary, Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret. Four women tell the BBC of alleged incidents that occurred when they were teenagers, including forcing one to masturbate him in a motel bathroom, threats of sexual assault in a hotel room, underage sex in California, and explicit phone conversations that started when one girl was 16. One woman says she was later sent a non-disclosure agreement she refused to sign; the BBC says it has reviewed that document.

In total, 10 women spoke to the BBC, all but one on the record for the first time, describing alleged encounters with Leto between 2002 and 2016, when he was in his 30s and 40s. Two longtime band crew members say staff were uneasy about how Leto behaved around teenage girls, including backstage and at his homes. The BBC says it corroborated parts of the women's accounts with contemporaneous messages, photos, and friends and family who had been told of the allegations at the time.
