UK Bomb Plot Doctors Tried to Come to US

Two of the suspects in last week's failed UK bomb plot attempted to come to the US, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The FBI says Mohammed Jamil Asha and another, unspecified member of the gang of eight doctors and medical students arrested last week began applications to US medical schools through a Philly-based organization.

Asha, 26, a Jordanian neurosurgeon, was arrested with his wife in a dramatic sweep near Manchester after a failed car-bomb attempt in Glasgow. The organization where he and his possible associate made application inquiries places foreign-trained doctors in US med schools; Asha got his medical degree in Jordan in 2004.
