Max Miller's Ohio Seat Is Now a Toss-Up

Rep. Max Miller's reelection fight just got a lot more precarious. The Cook Political Report on Monday reclassified the Ohio Republican's 7th District seat from "Likely Republican" to "Toss Up," as domestic violence and drug-use allegations fuel a widening backlash, reports the Hill. Miller's ex-wife, Emily Moreno, accuses him of scalding her with hot water, pointing a gun at her head, and injuring their infant daughter's collarbone; he denies it and remains under House Ethics Committee investigation.

A recent co/efficient poll shows Democrat Brian Poindexter up by 14 points, with nearly half of voters saying they're now less inclined to back Miller. National Democrats are converging on the race, reports the Washington Post, by adding it to their "Red to Blue" initiative, thus opening up resources for Poindexter. Miller missed the Monday deadline to be replaced on the ballot and insists he has "the utmost confidence" that he'll win, while former father-in-law Sen. Bernie Moreno and other Republicans press him to resign.
