Sandra Bullock Talks for First Time About Partner's Death

Sandra Bullock says she started mourning Bryan Randall years before the public knew he was sick, Page Six reports. Speaking on the SmartLess podcast this week, the 62-year-old Oscar winner explained why she stayed silent about Randall's ALS: "He asked me not to share … I know why he asked me not to." That decision, she admitted, "isolated" her as she juggled his illness, parenting two children, and the COVID pandemic, a combination she called "a trifecta that was pretty dark." Randall died in 2023.

Bullock said only her sister initially knew of Randall's diagnosis; she later confided in friends including Jennifer Aniston and SmartLess host Jason Bateman's wife, Amanda Anka. She described ALS as "a traumatic diagnosis" and said, "My person left a lot earlier than the body left." Randall, a photographer she met in 2015 and called "the love of my life," died of the neurodegenerative disease at age 57. He and Bullock had been together eight years, Variety reports.
