Apple Reportedly Planning iPhone 18 Price Hike

Apple's next iPhone may arrive with something extra you won't like: a higher price, Mashable reports. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman (whom Mashable refers to as "the source of virtually all news about unreleased Apple products") reports Apple is weighing price increases for the upcoming iPhone 18 lineup, with details expected at its September event.

The move would follow hikes on the iPad Air, MacBook Air, and Mac Studio, which climbed by $150 to $500 earlier this summer. A jump of around $100 on the iPhone—bringing the base 18 Pro to roughly $1,199—is seen as likely, in line with recent Samsung and Google increases. Rising component costs, including memory, are a key factor. Apple may also lean on its monthly Upgrade program to soften the blow, effectively turning pricier phones into a subscription-style expense rather than a one-time hit. The September event is expected to be announced within the next week, 9to5Mac reports. Gurman also reports that a foldable iPhone will likely be announced at that event.
