An Illinois woman who friends say had been closely following the Lindsay Clancy murder trial is now charged with killing her own 2-year-old son. Prosecutors in Will County have charged 40-year-old Corie A. Walsh with three counts of first-degree murder in the death of her son Barrett, known as "Bear," reports People. Police in Frankfort responded on Tuesday afternoon to a report of an unresponsive child and arrived to find a neighbor performing CPR. The boy had been discovered hanging by his neck from a basement rafter, according to multiple outlets citing court documents.

Preliminary autopsy findings cited by prosecutors say the boy died of asphyxia caused by ligature compression of the neck, per FOX 32 Chicago. The neighbor said they'd found Walsh with a knife "actively harming herself," reports NBC News. Officers later found Walsh in an upstairs bathtub with what authorities say were self-inflicted, non-life-threatening knife wounds, per People. Prosecutors allege Walsh thought her son was the "anti-Christ" and "the devil." Her husband, meanwhile, was said to have been out of state when this occurred, per FOX 32.

Witnesses told investigators she'd recently become "very invested" in the trial of Clancy, the Massachusetts mother accused of killing her three children, and had been "actively discussing" the case in a group text hours before Barrett's death, per People. Walsh's attorney said the married mom of four was experiencing a psychotic episode and called the case a family tragedy. Walsh is now in custody and receiving medical treatment.
