President Trump says artificial intelligence doesn't need more rules—just him in charge. In a Truth Social post Monday, the president dismissed mounting pressure to tighten oversight of AI, arguing that "the only control or 'guardrails' that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!" He also took aim at Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, who called over the weekend for the industry to slow development in the name of safety, reports CNBC.

Trump said his administration already has stopped AI figures "from doing bad, or potentially bad, 'things,' like Dario (Anthropic!), who is now pretending to be a 'perfect little angel'—and we will continue to do so!" He maintained that the government already has sufficient criminal and regulatory oversight over the industry, and he denounced the growing backlash against data centers as a "sick conspiracy." If the US slows, China will gain, and "whoever wins AI, wins," he wrote in all-caps, per Axios.
