Firefighters' Kitten Rescue Goes Viral

A California kitten's bad hide-and-seek choice has turned into a social media hit. Ventura County firefighters were called to a Camarillo home after Suki, a new addition to the household, wriggled partway into an entertainment center and got stuck, unable to back out, KTLA reports. The Engine 50 crew pulled out the audio-video gear and shifted the cabinet to reach the wedged cat, then carefully eased her free as her head poked through an opening.

"Suki showed no signs of injury and was returned to her relieved family," said the Ventura County Fire Department, which shared video of the rescue on Instagram. The fire department said the same video was posted on TikTok and received more than 7 million views, the New York Post reports. The department publicly thanked the family for sharing the footage and spotlighting firefighters' work.
