Thrills are giving way to lawsuits at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Attorneys this week filed three suits alleging that riders suffered devastating brain injuries on the California park's X2 roller coaster, and they say more than 100 additional cases are coming. The claims center on the "fifth-dimension" ride's rotating seats and "intense drops and inversions," per KTLA. Lawyers say experts have identified a mechanism they believe is causing harm.
Among the plaintiffs: two women who underwent emergency brain surgeries in July and remain in recovery, and the family of a 22-year-old man who died in 2022 after riding X2. That earlier wrongful-death case was quietly settled in August. The attorneys handling these three suits say that they accepted only clients who'd sought medical care before deciding to pursue legal avenues, reports KABC. X2 has been shut down since mid-July. Six Flags, citing company policy and ongoing litigation, says only that the ride is closed and isn't commenting further.
