Avengers: Endgame ruled the box office when it came out in 2019. The same movie might return to No. 1 again this weekend, reports Variety. Disney is sending the film back into domestic theaters as Avengers: Endgame Encore, ahead of a sequel—Avengers: Doomsday—that comes out in December. The re-release is projected to pull in $25 million to $28 million over the weekend, enough to potentially take the No. 1 spot from Zach Cregger's Resident Evil reboot, which came out last weekend.
Three new titles—the Brad Pitt survival thriller The Heart of the Beast, the animated adventure Forgotten Island, and the Robert Pattinson-led Primetime—are chasing third with mid-teen to $20 million forecasts. While Endgame is an "encore," fans will apparently be getting some new scenes: The AV Club reports that a few minutes of leaked footage is cropping up online.
