Baseball's next showcase game could be played someplace completely different: Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. The Washington Post reports that Major League Baseball has asked the Trump administration about staging a one-off game in a national park, and that federal officials have already toured three potential sites at Grand Teton, including one being used as a storage area. MLB already has held splashy standalone events like its Field of Dreams game in Iowa and neutral-site matchups at Fort Bragg and the Little League World Series in Williamsport.
The White House insisted this is MLB's idea, not a presidential directive or administration priority, and noted that no permits have been issued and no decisions made. Conservation groups expressed alarm, warning that building a ballpark in a marquee park known for grizzlies, wolves, and bison could set a precedent for using protected land for entertainment. A local county commissioner calls it a "radical departure" from what national parks are meant to be. The Post piece, which includes context on the Trump administration's park policy, can be found here.
