A months-long probe into thefts at Ontario hospitals has ended with a 65-count case against a 34-year-old Burlington woman, the BBC reports. Ontario Provincial Police say Nassim Eronn is accused of targeting both patients and staff at multiple health-care facilities across the Canadian province between February 2024 and last month.
Eronn faces dozens of counts of fraud and theft under $5,000, along with charges including breach of trust, impersonation, and disobeying court orders. The investigation into Eronn began in May at Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital and later widened to other sites, with police executing several search warrants and seizing "significant" amounts of property. Police shared photos of allegedly stolen goods including clothing and furniture, City News Toronto reports. Five hospitals were involved, the Toronto Sun reports. Authorities have not disclosed Eronn's exact role in the facilities and are asking potential victims to scrutinize their financial records and contact investigators.
