Cinnamon lovers might want to check the pantry. Galil Importing Corp is recalling a batcg of its Lior Ground Cinnamon after Maryland health officials found elevated lead levels in a sample, though no illnesses have been reported, the FDA says. The recall applies to 90-gram clear plastic containers with UPC 794711005484 and lot code GAP11304, sold at various retailers in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, Florida, and Illinois between Nov. 18, 2025, and Sept. 7, 2026. The FDA says the recall was issued after a sample analyzed by the Maryland Department of Health showed elevated lead levels, Delish reports.
The FDA warns that lead exposure is especially risky for children and can cause long-term neurological issues. "Short term exposures to very low levels of lead may not elicit any symptoms," the FDA says. "It is possible that increased blood lead levels may be the only apparent sign of lead exposure." The agency says Lior is investigating a supplier and has stepped up testing. "Consumers should not consume the product and should either discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund," the FDA says. Questions can be directed to Galil at 1-516-496-7400 on weekdays between 9am and 5pm Eastern.
