Rep. Tim Burchett says the real UFO mystery is why the government keeps the files locked up. Appearing on Fox News over the weekend, the Republican urged President Trump to follow through on his pledge to declassify records on aliens and unidentified anomalous phenomena. Burchett said he's been briefed by "just about every alphabet agency" and called what he's seen "pretty wild," the Hill reports. Although he advocates "full disclosure," People points out, Burchett was vague about what he's learned.
The lawmaker has previously led House hearings on UAPs, including testimony from former intelligence official David Grusch, who says the US has long had a program to recover and study crashed nonhuman craft—a claim the government denies. Burchett said releasing the information could keep Americans "up at night" but insisted "we can handle it." Trump promised in a February Truth Social post to order federal departments to locate and disclose records tied to extraterrestrial life and UFOs. The White House has registered the domain Aliens.gov, and one advocate for the information said, "We've never been closer to disclosure," per the Guardian. But nothing yet.
