Canadian police have found themselves a barbecue bandit, though a decidedly nonhuman one. UPI reports that officers with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police came across the perp on Monday in Alberta's Crowsnest Pass. Their tongue-in-cheek description of the suspect: short, red-haired, and bundled in a thick coat. It was actually a red fox, jaws crammed with hot dogs. The police posted a photo of the animal, the evidence clearly dangling out of its mouth.
The constable who first spotted the critter found it in an area surrounded by woods, which the fox promptly ran into after the officer snapped a picture, Cpl. Mathew Howell tells the Washington Post. The fox was let go "without conditions," officers said, though not without a very full stomach. After the photo went viral, the internet appeared to be Team Fox. "Suspect asks for consideration on the grounds of extreme cuteness," one wrote, per the Post. Another remarked: "He is innocent!!! Could have got those [wieners] anywhere!!!"
