President Trump says the calendar may keep him from a major family milestone this weekend, NBC News reports. Asked Thursday if he'll be at Donald Trump Jr.'s wedding to Bettina Anderson on a private island in the Bahamas, Trump told reporters the ceremony comes as he's dealing with "a thing called Iran and other things," and that the timing "is not good" for him. He described the event as a "small, little private affair" and said he'll "try and make it," but did not commit. Sources tell Page Six Don Jr. had considered a fancier wedding, held at the White House, but ultimately decided it wouldn't be a good look amid the Iran war.
Trump also framed the decision as a no-win situation with the press: "If I do attend, I get killed. If I don't attend, I get killed, by the fake news, of course." The White House's weekend schedule has him in Bedminster, NJ, on Saturday, the reported wedding day. Trump nonetheless offered well-wishes, calling Anderson, a socialite and model, someone he has "known for a long time" and hoping for "a great marriage" for the couple. The pair got engaged at Camp David, the presidential retreat, and announced their engagement at a White House holiday party in December; Anderson's bridal shower was held at Mar-a-Lago, USA Today reports. Trump Jr. was previously married to Vanessa Trump for 13 years and was later engaged to Kimberly Guilfoyle, now the US ambassador to Greece.
