A Wisconsin motorist decided the rules of the road didn't apply—and ended up in quite a sticky situation. State transportation officials say the pickup truck driver in Milwaukee County pushed aside a "road closed" barricade at an interchange connecting I-41/894/US 45 and National Avenue on May 12, then drove straight into freshly poured concrete, per UPI. A photo shared by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation shows the truck's tires nearly swallowed by the unset roadway.
In a pointed social media post last week, the department said the unnamed driver had "cemented their inability to adhere to signs," and reminded the public that barricades are there to protect both workers and motorists: ignore or move them, officials warned, and you might end up in the same spot. Video from the scene captured police and road crews using heavy equipment to haul the vehicle out that same day, per UPI and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. No word on consequences for the driver, who could face vehicle repair costs at least.
