An Iowa woman who tried to end another woman's pregnancy by spiking a pan of lasagna with painkillers has been sentenced to a decade behind bars. Prosecutors say 36-year-old Amber Snow of Decorah laced the dish with oxycodone in December 2025, reports KCRG. Snow pleaded guilty to seven charges, including attempted nonconsensual termination of a pregnancy, multiple counts of administering harmful substances to adults and juveniles, a controlled substance violation, and child endangerment. Snow shares custody of her child with a man related to the intended victim.

The tampering came to light in January 2026, when testing by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation confirmed the lasagna contained oxycodone. Investigators say Snow's minor child knew of the plan, objected, and was present when the food was delivered, per the Des Moines Register. Snow was arrested in March and will serve 10 years in prison, with all terms running at the same time. She must pay more than $8,400 in fines and surcharges, and a no-contact order with the victim will remain in place for five years, though it allows supervised visits with her children. Her husband, 35-year-old Matthew Uthoff, faces the same charges and has pleaded not guilty. His trial is set for this summer.
