Nvidia wants your next PC to think for itself. At Taiwan's Computex tech show on Monday, CEO Jensen Huang introduced RTX Spark, a new chip meant to run AI agents directly on laptops and desktops. Developed with Microsoft and Taiwan's MediaTek, the chip is pitched as the backbone of what Nvidia calls an "agentic" PC—machines that can operate continuously and autonomously on a user's behalf. "You could ask it to read files, go help you do some research. It could do a lot more," Huang said, per the AP. Analyst Neil Shah likened the potential shift to the impact of the iPhone or ChatGPT on their respective markets, per Reuters.

RTX Spark arrives alongside Nvidia's new Vera central processing unit, also tailored for AI agents and already being tested by OpenAI, Anthropic, and SpaceX, Reuters reports. The push signals Nvidia's deeper move into the PC and processor market, which Huang recently pegged as a $200 billion opportunity. The announcements rattled rivals: AMD and Intel shares slipped nearly 4% in US pre-market trading, Qualcomm fell almost 7%, and Apple edged slightly lower, while Microsoft rose more than 3%. Industry leaders at Computex, including Qualcomm's Cristiano Amon, framed 2026 as "the year of agents" as device makers redesign hardware for locally run AI. Microsoft and Dell are expected to offer PCs featuring RTX Spark later this year.
