New York's rumor mill just got fresh fuel for its favorite summer storyline: a possible Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce wedding at Madison Square Garden, NBC News reports. A City Hall spokesperson confirms a permit was filed in early June for street closures around MSG from July 2-4, aligning with a New York Times report that an event planner sought approval to erect a tent outside the arena for up to 999 guests. A source at MSG tells NBC News the venue has those dates blocked for a "big event," though no one will say for whom. The Times, citing an unnamed city official, reports MSG is planning to host Swift and Kelce's wedding festivities on July 3 and sources tell Deadline that Penn Station's Amtrak police officers have been told to prep for the event. Representatives for the couple, MSG, and Winick Productions all declined to comment.

Swift and Kelce, engaged since August, have kept wedding details quiet as fans debate everything from a Rhode Island mansion to a European villa—and now Midtown Manhattan— as the likely setting. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani even name-checked "Taylor Swift's wedding" while touting the city's capacity for major events, but later said he's neither invited nor attending. The latest from the Times, citing two sources including a showbiz exec, claims an "intimate" gathering of about 100 will be held at MSG on July 2, followed by a July 3 event with around 1,000 guests and possible performances. The newspaper also cites three sources who say several Kansas City Chiefs players have booked hotel rooms around July 3 in Manhattan. Commentators are split, with some saying this could all be a fake-out while others muse that it might just make perfect sense, given how much control Swift & Co. would have over the entire shindig, including photos.
