Two years after sharing a debate stage with Donald Trump, Joe Biden used a Maryland ballroom to deliver one of his sharpest post-White House critiques of his successor yet, CNN reports. Speaking for 10 minutes at a state Democratic event at a casino in Hanover on Saturday night, Biden mocked Trump's reported focus on personal monuments, listing projects like a White House ballroom expansion and an arch in his own honor before quipping, "What a loser." The remark drew the biggest applause of his speech, per the Washington Post. He then accused Trump's administration of "brazen, blatant corruption … on a scale never seen before in American history in any administration."
Biden also ripped Trump over the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, telling the crowd that the president wants to use public money to support the rioters and arguing those involved "don't deserve to be compensated" and should be imprisoned "for a long, long, long time." There were a few protesters outside but enthusiastic supporters inside the concert hall for the boxing-themed "Fight Back & Win" gala to raise money for the Maryland Democratic Party. "To all of you who love this country, it's time to get up, damn it," said Biden, 83. "Get up. Get up now. Continue this fight." The "loser" taunt is one of Trump's favorites to lob at others; he told a 2019 rally that "I never want to be called a loser," per NPR.
