US Woman Vanishes on Caribbean Trip

A North Carolina mother who went to Grenada for a beach vacation is now the focus of an island-wide search. Elizabeth "Liz" Waddell, 44, was last seen Wednesday at Grand Anse Beach in St. George's, near the Airbnb where she was staying with a friend, according to Grenadian police. Family spokesperson Amanda Romano-Harmon tells WRAL that Waddell went outside in her swimsuit to a pool overlooking the bay while her friend took an online course; some time later, her friend found only Waddell's towel on a nearby pier and reported her missing, per Fox News.

Surveillance footage shows Waddell swimming near the pier between noon and 1pm before floating out of view, Romano-Harmon tells Today, adding divers have been searching the water for days. Waddell, a Raleigh-area physical therapist and fitness instructor, is described as 5-foot-5 with short blond hair; police also released a photo of her with pink hair. Her husband, daughter, and twin sister have flown to Grenada to join the search, which also includes university students. Authorities are appealing to fishermen, boat operators, and coastal residents for tips.
