A suspect in custody after a shooting that left three people dead and five injured in Seattle is 15 years old, the city's mayor said Monday. Mayor Katie Wilson said the teen is in juvenile detention, the AP reports. Police said the boy was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault and firearms violations, reports KOMO News. Wilson said there have been no formal arrests on suspicion of homicide yet. According to court documents released Monday afternoon, police believe the 15-year-old and one of the three people killed were "engaged in a gunfight with at least one other unknown suspect."

The gunfire erupted during the Bite of Seattle food festival, where witnesses described shoulder-to-shoulder crowds suddenly surging as roughly half a dozen shots rang out. The dead include a 19-year-old man, a 44-year-old man, and a 56-year-old woman. A 2-year-old boy remains hospitalized in satisfactory condition; all other injured victims have been discharged, including a 39-year-old woman, a 23-year-old man, and a 27-year-old man, KING5 reports. Police say they recovered two guns at the scene. At least one other suspect remains on the run, and "there may be more," Assistant Chief Tyrone Davis said Monday. This story has been updated with new developments.
