Ex-JPMorgan Banker Makes Salacious Claims in Lawsuit

A lawsuit that first grabbed attention for its graphic claims is back, now with broader civil-rights allegations against one of Wall Street's biggest banks. Former JPMorgan Chase banker Chirayu Rana has shifted his case from state to federal court, accusing the firm's leveraged-finance team of systemic racial discrimination and reiterating earlier claims that he was sexually assaulted by a colleague, reports the Wall Street Journal. "We don't believe there's any merit to these claims," says a bank spokesperson on behalf of the defendants, per Reuters. "While numerous employees cooperated with the investigation, the complainant refused."

Rana, who is Nepalese and worked at JPMorgan from 2024 to 2025, says he was mocked with racist slurs, told he was hired to satisfy diversity targets, and heard remarks that the bank wanted to remain "white and Christian." The new filing adds three former colleagues as defendants. Rana also amplified accusations that a bank exec, Lorna Hajdina, coerced him into sex by threatening his career. Hajdina not only denies it, she has countersued Rana for defamation. JPMorgan, which initially offered $1 million to settle the case, said Monday that it no longer plans to settle.
