Senator's Daughter Seeks New Restraining Order Against Miller

An already volatile Ohio political drama just ratcheted up another notch. As the Washington Post reports, Emily Moreno, daughter of Republican Sen. Bernie Moreno and ex-wife of GOP Rep. Max Miller, has requested a new restraining order against the congressman, alleging he grabbed one of her attorneys during a Tuesday court hearing and hurled a vulgar insult at the lawyer's fiancée as they left the courtroom. In her filing, Moreno said Miller "goaded" attorney Andrew Zashin by telling him to "Come at me!" and warned that, without court intervention, Miller would keep trying to contact and intimidate her legal team.

Both Moreno and Miller already have restraining orders against each other amid a custody dispute and dueling accusations of domestic violence. Moreno has alleged Miller scalded her with hot water, sprayed her with a sink hose, abused their young daughter—who was treated for a fractured collarbone with what a police report described as a handprint-like bruise—and once held a gun to her head. Miller has denied abusing either his ex-wife or their child, calling her claims "false allegations" and blaming mental illness, a characterization her lawyers reject. A judge this week tossed Miller's own domestic-violence case against Moreno, reports the New York Post. Miller, 37, is seeking a third term in Ohio's 7th District.
