Ariana Grande is about to finish one big project and put most of the rest on pause, People reports. After her Eternal Sunshine tour ends in London on Sept. 1, the 33-year-old plans to "take a step back from visibility," her rep tells the magazine, citing the nonstop focus on the star's health and appearance. The rep says Grande wants to end the tour "healthily and happily" before taking a "much-deserved break from public-facing work." A source says the show is physically demanding but that Grande has been performing "at a very high level night after night." That reset means she'll no longer star in the West End revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George at London's Barbican Centre, where she'd been set to appear opposite Wicked costar Jonathan Bailey next summer. Last month, Deadline reported she was pulling out of an upcoming season of American Horror Story.
Grande has recently pushed back on commentary about her body, including in her song "Yes, And?" and on her new album Petal, which a source describes as a "fight song" about the toxic side of public attention, not a breakup record (though her recent breakup was big news). Model Charli Howard, an eating disorder recovery advocate, was among those saying Grande looks unhealthily thin in the music video for "Petal," the latest single from the album, Yahoo News reports. Despite her upcoming break, Grande will still appear on the big screen soon in Focker-in-Law, the next Meet the Parents film, due in theaters Nov. 25.
