Linda Blair's Southern California property drew a surprise visit on Friday from animal control officials, who arrived with an inspection warrant tied to what they described as a large-scale "kennel operation." The 67-year-old star of The Exorcist, who runs the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation dog rescue, has not been accused of any crime. Los Angeles County's animal care and regional planning departments said they were checking buildings "associated with a kennel operation reported to have more than 100 dogs," noting that permits for the facility lapsed in 2023 and that attempts to reach the owner went unanswered, NBC News reports.
In an Instagram post, Blair assured followers that she and the animals are fine, People reports. "Turns out we just have some paperwork to do and some diagrams but as everybody knows, I'm looking to move so I can be more educational and help more animals," she wrote. "I'd rather move forward."
- "It's a big crisis we're dealing with in California and across the country, so any and all support would mean the world," she said. "The rest of us are just taking care of our chores every single day, and what commitment we've already given to the animals. And I hope everybody will do the same and be supportive. But I want to let you know I'm OK, and so are the animals."
The county declined to say how many animals were found, citing an ongoing investigation, but said it aims to ensure kennels comply with local rules and provide humane care. The foundation's website currently lists at least 128 dogs available for adoption, though it's unclear how many are housed at Blair's property. Sources tell TMZ that Blair has a permit for around 60 dogs but around 200 were found on the property, though none of them were taken away. The sources say Blair was on the property when around 70 members of various agencies showed up and that she was "extremely cooperative" during the search.
