Burning Man's 40th anniversary wrapped with a grim tally: Three attendees died over the course of the weeklong Nevada desert festival, reports People. Pershing County Sheriff and coroner Jerry Allen said Monday that while the event typically sees one death a year, authorities recorded two deaths on-site this year and a third involving a person who died while being taken to a Reno hospital.
Authorities identified two of the victims as Sampson Tshombe, in his mid-50s, who suffered a medical emergency on Thursday, and 60-year-old Craigh Mann, found dead at his camp on Saturday. No cause of death has been announced in either case, but foul play is not suspected. Details on the third death, which technically occurred in Washoe County, have not been released.
