It's another plot twist for Prince Harry and Meghan. Their spokesperson on Tuesday said the couple were "surprised" by a letter released under King Charles III's authorization on Monday. The letter, signed by the Lord Chamberlain, describes the pair as nonworking royals—essentially private citizens with commercial and charitable interests—despite their return to the UK. NBC News reports the couple's rep said Harry and Meghan were not given a chance to contribute to the letter and only saw it hours before its release. The rep added that a government committee is meeting this week to weigh whether security should be provided to them. As for the letter, a palace source says it was shared publicly because its contents likely would have leaked anyway.
