Hollywood is lining up a fall film slate that puts some of tech's biggest names squarely in the dock. The Hollywood Reporter looks at four October movies, two of them documentaries, that share a through line: Silicon Valley bosses whose rhetoric about saving humanity collides with questions about ethics and safety:

  • Zuckerberg: Aaron Sorkin returns to the world of Mark Zuckerberg with The Social Reckoning, starring Jeremy Strong as the Meta CEO and opening Oct. 9. See the trailer. It hasn't yet been screened.
  • Altman: Luca Guadagnino's Artificial, with Andrew Garfield as OpenAI chief Sam Altman during his brief 2023 ouster, premieres at the New York Film Festival Oct. 5 before a limited Dec. 25 release. See the trailer.

  • Musk: Director Alex Gibney's nearly four-hour documentary on Elon Musk, simply called Musk, is out on Oct. 16. See the trailer. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO is not happy about the film.
  • Holmes: Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim's You Can See Everything, about Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes as she heads to prison, is also out on Oct. 16. See the trailer, which has already drawn raised eyebrows. Both this and Musk debuted at fall festivals to strong reviews and currently hold perfect Rotten Tomatoes scores.
  • Into November: The wave doesn't stop in October—Netflix's November limited series The Altruists will dramatize the collapse of cryptocurrency exchange FTX, with Anthony Boyle as Sam Bankman-Fried and Julia Garner as Caroline Ellison.
