The Buffalo Bills are adding a new note to their home opener: "O Canada." For the first time, the team will have both the Canadian and American national anthems performed before a home game, the Sept. 17 regular-season debut of the new Highmark Stadium, CP24 reports. The Bills announced the move on Instagram on Wednesday, the day after President Trump announced import bans on Canadian products including alcohol, motorcycles, and dairy.
Canadian band Barenaked Ladies will perform "O Canada," while American singer and Moana voice actor Auli'i Cravalho will sing "The Star-Spangled Banner." The cross-border nod is nothing new to Buffalo sports fans, WIVB reports. The Buffalo Sabres, Bisons, and Bandits all play the Canadian anthem before home games. After singer Cami Clune's microphone failed halfway through "O Canada" before an NHL playoff game at Keybank Center in April, Sabres fans sang the rest of the anthem.
