Six Flags' most famous thrill ride is being retired for good, amid a wave of lawsuits. The company said Tuesday it will permanently close its X2 roller coaster at Magic Mountain in Southern California, reports CNN. "While X2 consistently passed a multitude of safety tests, we have decided to close the ride because we believe it's the right thing to do," wrote Six Flags Magic Mountain President Brian Oerding in a blog post. He said "guest confidence" in safety was a priority.
The move comes after a law firm announced that more than 100 riders were suing after they say they suffered traumatic brain injuries on the coaster, notes People. Before that legal action emerged, a CNN investigation raised questions about the safety of the ride after numerous reports of brain injuries.
