Tech sector drags on indices after weak earnings

Stocks closed down following disappointing data on home construction and lackluster earnings from tech firms Salesforce.com and Autodesk, the Wall Street Journal reports.

  • The Dow lost 11 points to close at 10,426.
  • The Nasdaq fell 11 points, settling at 2,193.
  • The S&P 500 lost 1 point to close at 1,110.
