Olivia Nuzzi, whose book detailing the personal relationship she had with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. while reporting on him was released this week, is leaving the employ of Vanity Fair. The writer and the magazine issued a joint statement Friday saying they had "mutually agreed, in the best interest of the magazine, to let her contract expire at the end of the year," the Wall Street Journal reports. She had been named Vanity Fair's West Coast editor earlier this year, a job that was to include writing.

Journalist Olivia Nuzzi's book is out on Tuesday, and if the name isn't familiar it might mean you haven't followed the media world's biggest soap opera of the year. Nuzzi famously lost her job as Washington correspondent for New York magazine when her unusually close relationship with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. came to light. She chronicles all that in American Canto, while former fiance and fellow journalist Ryan Lizza has been telling his side of the story in serialized fashion online.
