Pink is headed to Broadway's biggest night, but not as a performer. The three-time Grammy winner will host the 79th Tony Awards on June 7, marking her first time emceeing the show and a rare pick with no Broadway credits, the Los Angeles Times reports. The ceremony returns to New York's Radio City Music Hall, with nominations due out May 5. In announcing her role, Pink joked on Instagram, "My first question was—don't you need to have been on Broadway for this?"

Calling it "the honor of an entire lifetime," Pink said theater has helped shape her concerts, which are known for high-flying stunts. Variety calls Pink "a lifelong fan of theater." Tony organizers say her massive, loyal fan base could pull more viewers into the Broadway orbit. While recent hosts Ariana DeBose and Cynthia Erivo came directly from the stage, Pink's connection is more indirect: her songs appear in two current shows, Moulin Rouge! ("Raise Your Glass") and & Juliet ("F---in' Perfect"), ABC News reports.
