Police in San Francisco say a man threw a Molotov cocktail at the mansion owned by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman before dawn on Friday, reports the New York Times. Nobody was injured, and it's not clear if Altman was home at the time. The assailant fled on foot, and police arrested a 20-year-old man about an hour later, around 5am, at the headquarters of Altman's company, per SFGate. The unidentified suspect was allegedly threatening to burn down the headquarters. Charges are still pending.

"Thankfully, no one was hurt," said OpenAI spokesman Jamie Radice. "We deeply appreciate how quickly SFPD responded." The Molotov cocktail burned an exterior gate at Altman's residence but caused no major damage. OpenAI, based in San Francisco, operates ChatGPT, one of the most widely used artificial intelligence tools. Altman was the subject this week of an unflattering profile in the New Yorker.
