A TikTok fluke that pushed a Central New York man onto late-night TV was followed by a twist he didn't expect: unemployment. The Syracuse Post-Standard reports that Scott Kelly, an Army veteran whose résumé went viral after it was spotted at a Jonas Brothers concert he didn't attend, says he was fired from his job at JMA Wireless two months after appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Kelly says he took approved time off, paid his own way to New York City, and never named JMA on air—though Fallon flashed a QR code linking to Kelly's LinkedIn, which did list the company.
Kelly says he was summoned to a meeting the day after the segment and informed higher-ups were unhappy he'd gone on national TV. He says he was later told his role was being cut as part of a strategic shift, a rationale he doesn't buy. "I believe my termination was directly tied to my appearance on Fallon," Kelly says. JMA Wireless, in a statement, denies any link between the show and his termination, saying in a statement that "Scott was part of a group of employees affected by a change in direction for his team." Kelly declined severance to avoid an NDA and is now leaning into a national-security podcast, MBA studies, and a consulting startup. Read the full story at the Post-Standard.
