Companies eyeing billions in tariff refunds just got a pointed message from President Trump: skip the money, and he'll "remember" it with gratitude. A day after the government opened an online portal for businesses to claim refunds on duties the Supreme Court found unlawful, Trump told CNBC it would be "brilliant" if major firms like Apple and Amazon, which haven't filed for refunds yet, continued to hold off. Asked if he would be "offended" by the huge companies seeking the refunds they are entitled to, Trump told Squawk Box, "Brilliant if they don't do that," adding, "Actually, if they don't do that, they've got to know me very well ... if they don't do that, I'll remember them."

Trump again blasted the 6–3 ruling that invalidated his broad tariffs, saying he was upset the justices didn't shield already-collected duties from being paid back. The Customs and Border Protection portal launched Monday is supposed to process valid claims within 60 to 90 days, but importers have already reported glitches and traffic overloads, Quartz reports.

Retailers could see big returns: Levi Strauss expects about $80 million, while Gap says it hasn't factored any refunds into its outlook because "the situation is fluid." The process follows a federal judge's order to begin repayment preparations after the Supreme Court said Trump overstepped his authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. CBP has flagged roughly $127 billion in potentially refundable duties and interest involving more than 56,000 importers.
