Woman Kills Bank of America VP in Times Square

A fatal stabbing in the middle of Times Square on Monday ended with police fatally shooting the knife-wielding attacker, authorities say. Police identify her as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros of Queens, who allegedly stabbed two people at about 4:30pm. A 32-year-old woman identified as Bank of America vice president Erin Piacenti of Chester, New Jersey, died after being stabbed in the abdomen, reports CBS News. The second victim, a 68-year-old man who was exiting the subway with his wife, is in stable condition. The attacks appeared to be random and unprovoked and reportedly happened about 20 seconds apart.

Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch says officers spent about four minutes urging Cisneros to drop two knives near a Times Square substation. Bodycam-style and bystander videos show officers firing Tasers before Cisneros allegedly charged them, prompting at least two officers to open fire. Tisch said investigators believe Cisneros had a history of mental illness. NBC News reports both Piacenti and her husband were 2021 graduates of Fordham University's law school.
