Jurors weighing whether Lindsay Clancy is criminally responsible for killing her three children say they're stuck, at least for now. The Massachusetts panel told the judge on Tuesday morning it couldn't agree on a verdict, but he instructed them to keep talking and sent them back to deliberate about the 2023 Duxbury case, per NBC Boston. "Just stay the course," Judge William F. Sullivan advised the jury members, reports CNN. Sullivan added, per the AP: "I know that this was a long trial ... I know there were over 80 witnesses. There were over 300 exhibits. But because of that, I'm going to ask you to go back out" and deliberate some more.

Clancy, 36, an ex-labor and delivery nurse, admits strangling her children but argues that postpartum psychosis left her legally not responsible. Prosecutors counter that she was depressed, wanted to die, and deliberately killed the children before attempting suicide, per NBC. The jury, deliberating since Thursday, can choose to convict her of murder or manslaughter, or they can acquit. A conviction could bring a life sentence; an acquittal could still mean confinement in a psychiatric facility. Her attorney has said he'd "absolutely" try the case again if there's a mistrial. If you or someone you know needs help, the national Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available by calling or texting 988.
