Luke Skywalker vs. Darth Vader? More like Luke Skywalker vs. the White House, USA Today reports. Star Wars actor Mark Hamill is under fire for a now-deleted Bluesky post that paired the caption "If Only" with an apparent AI image of President Trump in a grave marked "1946-2024." In the post, Hamill, 74, wrote that Trump should live long enough to face humiliation, legal accountability, and a dark place in history books. NBC News reports Hamill is one of Trump's most vocal critics. Variety reports that he has said he almost left the US after the 2024 election.

The White House blasted the image as dangerous amid recent alleged assassination attempts, calling Hamill "one sick individual" and linking such rhetoric to "three assassination attempts in two years." After backlash, Hamill deleted the grave image and posted a clarification, saying he had actually been "wishing him the opposite of dead" and apologizing if the image was "inappropriate," swapping in a photo of Trump with windblown hair. A longtime Democratic supporter who recently appeared in videos with Barack Obama and met with Joe Biden at the White House, Hamill is now drawing demands from Trump aides for Obama and other Democrats to denounce his post.
