Not every little kid is destined to end up in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, and even the best of us have to look things up once in a while. Unscramblerer.com sifted through this year's Google searches through May 18 for the likes of "how do you spell" and "how to spell" and came up with the most-searched words, reports UPI. "Studies show that reliance on autocorrect and AI deteriorates the [author's] spelling ability over time," says an Unscramblerer rep. "To combat this digital amnesia, we encourage everybody to search for the correct spelling of the word when a feeling of doubt arises. This becomes an educational moment. As the saying goes, use it or lose it." A look at the highlights:
- Bougie
- Favorite
- Through
- Business
- Tomorrow
- Because
- Definitely
- Beautiful
- Niece
- Separate
And then some results by state:
- School (Florida)
- Color (Colorado)
- Chihuahua (Georgia)
- Restaurant (Louisiana)
- Business (Mississippi), per the Clarion Ledger
- Spaghetti (North Carolina, Virginia)
- Ukulele (Minnesota)
- Diamond (Oregon)
- Recycle (Texas)
Speaking of the National Spelling Bee, it kicks off Tuesday. Look it up.
