A Los Angeles father lost part of his leg saving his 2-year-old daughter, and he says he'd have no problem making the same choice all over again. Jordan Stannard was buckling Sadie into the family car in Venice earlier this month when a truck came barreling at them. He tells ABC7 that he recalls "literally" throwing Sadie into the car before the vehicle slammed into him, leaving his left foot so damaged that doctors later amputated his leg below the knee. Sadie was not injured.
"If you told me, 'You just have to trade your foot to be with your daughters for the rest of your life,' that's a trade that I would make all day long," said the 38-year-old, who also has a newborn. The GMC truck that hit him had just struck another car that was in the road waiting for a parking spot, per the Los Angeles Times. It was not immediately known if the driver faced charges. Stannard's family has set up a GoFundMe to help cover medical costs, including a prosthetic, and he has a personal goal in mind: He hopes to run in next year's Los Angeles Marathon.
